What type of gear can be used?Any type of rope made from synthetic fibres, ranging from 4 mm (5/32") to 12 mm (1/2"). Spacing between the hooks can range from 90 cm (36") to 150 cm (60”). Hook size ranges from 11/0 to 15/0. Most commonly used are 7 / 9/ 11 mm (3/8") rope with swivels (ROTOLINE) spaced 110 cm (42") or 150 cm (60”), with Mustad Circle hooks or EZ Baiter hooks. Snoods (gangions) can be braided or twisted and the length varies from 35 cm (14") to 60 cm (24"). The most frequently used hooks for longlining: Mustad EZ Baiter
