Norbait
was established as a research and development project
by Mustad AS and Pronova Biopolymer
AS as equal partners. The company’s mission
was to develop an environmental friendly and selective
bait for longline fishing. In close cooperation with
The Institute of Marine Research in Bergen the project had its
real breakthrough in 1997 and the products were
commercialized.
Today the company is
called Norbait DA and is owned 50/50
by Mustad and The Domstein Group.
The company is located in Raudeberg, Måløy
on the West Coast of Norway. Norbait AS is world
leader in production of restructured bait.
NORBAIT/FISHBAIT – Produced
in Måløy by Norbait DA. Available in several types, both as allround and
selective Haddock-bait. Sold in 10kg crts.
Norbait
is manufactured by restructuring waste fish and
fish offal from processing industry and mixed with
gelling agents, binders and other attractants.
The mixture is then extruded into a fiber mesh
tube for a continuous "sausage". The production
of Norbait is patented worldwide.

Experienced
autoline captains estimate they use at least 15%
less bait when using Norbait and yet they deliver
an average of 20% more baited hooks to the target. Norbait
Blubait is a special designed bait to prevent catch
of seabirds. When the bait is colored blue the
seabirds do not see this as feed. Today we make
this bait at recipe for deep sea fishing for Patagonian
Toothfish.

for Hake, Cod, Tusk and Greenland Halibut, with
a very high bicatch of Haddock, Whiting.

for Haddock and Ling. Expect a low bicatch of
Cod. A high bicatch of other spieces can be expected,
particularly Whiting.

very firm and durable bait, developed for deep
sea fishing. Suitable for Greenland Halibut, Halibut, Worfish
and Patagonian Toothfish. Expect a soaking time
