Setting
When
the first buoys and anchors are thrown overboard, the
lines are pulled from the storage magazines through the
baiting machine. The setting speed can vary between 6-10
knots (3-6 hooks per second) depending on the model of
bating machine being used and the spacing between the
hooks. The baiting machine is operated by one man, who
feeds bait fish into the baiting section.
The
rest of the baiting operation is fully automatic. The
Mustad
RotoBaiter, patented baiting system, secures accurate
baiting of every single hook that passes through the
system, independent of setting speed. Take a look at
the animation for a detailed presentation of how it works.
Mustad
Baiting Machine
The new Precision Baiting Machine for Autoline Coastal
System is based on the well known technical principles of
the Mark 3. The Coastal Baiting Machine has a compact design,
requires little space and is designed with Mustad’s
reliable and patented baiting system: Mustad RotoBaiter.
If necessary the Rotobaiter can easily be replaced without
stopping the baiting operation. The machine baits Circle Hooks and EZ Hooks ranging from
size 12/0 to 15/0. Can be operated by one person and baits
up to 180 hooks per minute. The machine is made from stainless
steel. Delivered with an integrated waste receptacle. Function
The Coastal Baiting Machine will automatically:
- cut the bait
at a pre-set size
- bait the hook
- set the hook & line over the stern
Whole baitfish is placed on a conveyor chain that feeds
the bait into the machine. When the hooks are pulled through
the machine they trigger the knife - the bait piece is cut
and the hook is double baited before it shoots over the stern. |
