The Mustad Hook Separator clears hooks and lines quickly and efficiently from the main line and conveys them onto storage magazines. The hook separator operates synchronous with the line hauler and conveys the line from the hauler to the storage magazines. The main line is pulled around a pulley/sheave while the hooks are picked up by a rail that guides them onto a magazine where damaged hooks can be straightened or replaced. Hooks and lines are then conveyed onto storage magazines. See the illustration on the right.

Mustad SP 1000

The SP 1000 Hook Separator is a modified version of the SP 2000 Hook Separator. It is designed for EZ and Circle Hooks and uses magnets, placed in a specially designed pattern to guide the hooks onto one of the two hook-catcher plates. The hook-catching principle is highly efficient, has no moving parts and maintenance is minimal.

The SP 1000 is made from solid salt-water resistant aluminium with sheaves in Stainless Steel. The pressure wheel is spring loaded. A special hook-guide design reduces wear on hooks and gear and ensures an efficient racking result. Can be operated by one man. The Hook Separator SP 1000 can be delivered with a larger 315 motor and can then be used as the main hauling unit when fishing in shallow water.

Function
The main function of the Hook Separator unit is to pick up the hooks and guide them onto the storage magazines. This is done automatically and consistently as the gear is hauled on board. A secondary function: the unit is also a Slack Taker, keeping tension on the gear coming from the main hauler. The SP 1000 Hook Separator can operate efficiently at high speed and thereby allows the vessel to haul back more gear per day.

Optional functions:
The SP 1000 can also be delivered with a high-pressure water pump and accessories, which will give the additional functions of Twist Remover and Gear Cleaner. With a OMWP 315 hydraulic motor, the unit will function as a main hauler / hook separator. This alternative will save deck space and reduce total cost.

Mustad MagPacker – Manual

Small vessels tend to roll quite a lot. This makes it especially important to focus on safety and good working conditions on board. MagPacker Coastal has been developed with special emphasis on safety and function. One person operates the system and can easily transport the storage magazines to setting and hauling positions. Magpacker Coastal is for Mustad standard magazines made from stainless steel.

Function
The storage racks or Magpackers are placed right after the Hook Separator and hauling magazine. The magazines are retrieved for setting by a simple hand manoeuvre. Empty magazines are stored above the rack awaiting retrieval of the gear. This is a compact unit and requires little space. For hauling the gear, the process is reversed. This whole operation only requires one person.
