JIGGING REEL
The DNG jigging reel has been produced since 1985. It is
safe to say that more than 95% of all DNG reels ever made
are still in use. Mustad manufactures the DNG jigging reel,
along with a full range of deck machinery for gillnetting
and longlining.
Automation and Efficiency
The DNG computerized
jigging reel is a fully automatic fishing device. It pays
out the line and detects when the sinker hits the bottom.
Then it positions the hooks at the desired depth and performs
a jigging action which can be customized by each individual
user. The user can select the jigging speed, frequency and
jigging pattern. The reel automatically detects fish on the
hooks and hauls the catch up to the surface. The user has
full control of all parameters of the jigging operation and
can also select additional settings relating to weather, ocean
currents and bottom conditions. With time, the user can create
his own unique fishing methods.
The large display screen on the control panel shows depth
and all settings. The icons on the screen are easy to read,
and these user-friendly settings offer endless possibilities.
Should the user feel that too many changes have been made
he/she can return to the factory settings by the touch of
a button. The button panes are designed to endure harsh conditions
and the colours have been selected in order to minimize the
impact of weather and sunlight on the panel display.
One person can easily operate three or four reels and many
small boats are equipped with up to seven reels. With certain
additions, the DNG jigging reel is suitable for mackerel
and squid fishing.
Good Economy
The DNG computerized jigging
reel is a highly sophisticated fishing device. It secures
substantial catch at minimum cost. Fishing with
a DNG computerized jigging reel is based on a traditional
fishing method that in the course of time has proved to be
very efficient compared to other methods. Fish auctions throughout
the world consistently pay higher prices for superior quality
fish caught on reels, confirming its superior quality. There
is nothing in fishing that beats jigging.
Strong yet Light
The motor is not equipped
with a clutch or a drive. Instead it uses the line drum that
is attached directly to the motor axle. The brushless motor
is controlled by a computer and fitted with magnets. There
are only two friction surfaces. The axle ends in the bearings,
making for minimal maintenance and reducing power requirements
as well as wear and tear. The versatile motor can easily
be advanced or reversed at various speeds. The DNG reel can
stop altogether while operating at maximum load without causing
any damage to the motor. Tension during fishing is controlled
by the software and user settings. The
DNG jigging reel is
made of heavy-duty salt-resistant aluminium and stainless
steel designed to prevent cavity and to endure the shocks
and strains resulting from every-day fishing.
DNG C-6000i
The DNG jigging reel has many different fishing methods stored in the fixed
memory, designed for fish species such as cod, Pollock, mackerel and squid.
Step jigging and various search systems are also available. The user can
also develop his own methods and store them in the memory.
The DNG jigging reel is very versatile. The device is protected
against polarity reversal and high or low voltage peaks.
The DNG reel can operate on 12 – 24V, and will adapt
automatically to the connected voltage from 12 – 24V. |

The
DNG jigging reel can inform the user when coming up with
fish. The device does so by giving two short whistles when
the reel detects a fish, and two long whistles when it has
hauled up the line. The reel also displays the depth at which
the fish is caught. The reels communicate in order to ensure
that the fish are kept beneath the boat for as long as possible.
This will organise the fishing so that at least one reel is
jigging while the others haul up to deliver fish.
The DNG jigging reel is manufactured by DNG in Iceland . All
mechanical parts of the reel (motor, drum and all visible gear),
as well as software are designed and manufactured by DNG. Electrical
components purchased from suppliers are of superior quality.
The DNG jigging reel is subjected to strict quality control
standards, where all adjustments are tested under variable
conditions.
Low Power Consumption
After many years of research and development, DNG
has managed to optimize the electrical efficiency of the motor.
The average current of the machine operating on 24V is only
2A. This means that by using only a regular car battery the
reel can be used for many hours without recharging. Four reels
can operate for up to 10 hours on 80 amps/hour battery without
a re-charge!
Specifications
- Weight: 20kg
- Power consumption: 20W max. 250W
- Voltage: 12 – 24V
- Average current: 2A (for 24V) 4A (for12V)

Reliability
The DNG jigging reel requires minimal maintenance,
which is a crucial advantage in the demanding environment and
conditions the reel is used in!

- The DNG jigging reel can operate on 12 – 24 Volts
- The DNG jigging reel is completely water proof
- The DNG jigging reel can be instructed to jig according
to your specific requirements
- The DNG jigging reel requires minimal maintenance
- The DNG jigging reels communicate with each other in order
to achieve the most efficient operation
- 2-year guarantee
Constant Development
DNG’s efficient
Research and Development department is in a constant drive
in order to make improvements and to adapt the reel for more
fish species and uses world-wide. The needs, usage and the
requirements of users of the reel are under constant scrutiny
by the R&D department.
Environmentally Friendly
The fishing fleet
is a part of an environmentally conscious world. Fuel consumption
on jigging boats is amongst the lowest known per ton of fish
caught. Pollution resulting from lost fishing gear is minimal,
and there is no impact on the seabed and vegetation. We guarantee
that a more environmentally friendly fishing method is not
available!
